Title:

Tips from a Systems Researcher or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Enjoy Building Systems

Abstract:

In this talk, we discuss a few important guidelines and tips for conducting good systems research. These tips cover various aspects of a systems research project including ideas (e.g., tips on how to judge an idea and how to come up with ideas), execution (e.g., tips on how to build a research prototype and how to tackle implementation challenges), and evaluation. When discussing each of the tips, we provide examples from the speaker’s own experience as a systems researcher.
